After a Several Sources Mothers gives birth to her baby, we present her with a decision to accept a "Chastity Ring" to be worn on her third finger left hand. The purpose of the ring is to first celebrate the birth of her child and secondly, to have a symbol of the young mother's desire to live a chaste life until she is married. Each of the mothers has accepted the ring and only take it off if she decides not to live a chaste life. The concept is that Chastity will lead to peace and harmony with God and His Most Holy Spirit and help you through all the struggles and temptations that come along in your life.
If the young person decides she cannot keep her Chastity Promise, than she is asked to take the ring off... for hopefully another time in the future. At that time she may see that Chastity as a Lifestyle she really wants to live.
What follows are a few comments from some young people concerning chastity rings.

Hello,
I'm rather new to the Christian scene and culture. Although I converted to Christianity nearly 4 years ago I have not had much experience being around Christians in environments where they talk freely about their beliefs.
On campus I recently started spending time at the local Baptist Student Union. I couldn't help but notice that all the women were married, but none of the men were! Well, actually they weren't, they were wearing chastity rings and I didn't know what they were.
As a Christian male, I'm curious, is there an equivalent to the chastity ring for men?
I must admit that I think I would have a difficult time explaining to my friends why I was wearing a chastity ring if I were to chose to wear one. Also, it just doesn't seem in fashon for men anyway.
Sincerely,
(name withheld)

Absolutely YES>>>>YES>>>YES>>>>
There are most definitely Chastity... or Abstinence... Or Wait rings for men.
Hey.... who wants to get a disease or have an unplanned pregnancy ? And for you as a Christian man, why not say , "I have the courage to follow Christ ... even when it comes to my SEX-life !!!!"
You can select any ring to be a Chastity or Wait ring.
One young man who I knew would go with his father from time to time to purchase his ring. It seems he would loose it or give it to a friend who needed it more and his Dad would be so proud, they'd just go out and buy this young fellow a new Chastity ring. He had a girlfriend who is loved very much. They broke up and it killed him.
He was so depressed. That is how we came to meet. He worked for me for awhile. Well he let me make a mold of the ring he and his dad had found for a guy type Chastity ring and eventually he left to go back home. The very good news is that one year later the love of his life decided she was WRONG and she wanted him back and they got married.
They had a Chaste relationship until the day they got married. I think God helped straighten out the problems this young couple was having and it was a whole lot easier for the Holy Spirit to do so because they were both leading a chaste relationship. What do you think, Mark?
A Chastity Ring shows a definite value system in operations.
You know the D.A.R.E. program that is in all the schools? It's suppose to help kids keep away from drugs. You see the bumper stickers everywhere. Right? Why not have a ring that helps young people to avoid the risks and heartaches of an unplanned pregnancy or an STD?
Girls can be very aggressive these days. Right? And you're not always at a Christian conference where you'll be with people who are tying to do what is right in God's Eyes. The ring would help keep you in control in more then one way. Think about it and I'd sure like to hear from you again.
Thanks ever so much for writing.
God bless,

Dear Kathy DiFiore,
I just turned 30, and am on the verge of vowing a chaste state for the first time since I was 16.
I found your website while searching for articles on abstinence, online. I am thankful to have learned, through your site, that chastity is more important, and different than abstinence.
Are chastity rings for sale? If so, where can I buy them?
Thank you,
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,
It truly is a joy reading your email and listening to your enthusiasm. God must be smiling for your determination to live a chaste lifestyle. I think our gold chastity rings are $100. The profit from the ring goes to help keep our shelters open. I personally wear the ring. It is a gold dove. But did you know you can use any ring as a chastity ring? You could, if you want to, go to a Christian Store or a jewelry store and purchase something that has a religious theme for the ring. The idea is to wear it on your wedding ring finger until it is replaced (maybe) some day by a wedding ring. It can be blessed by a priest or minister and a pledge can be made before members of your family or friends. The experience could be simple and private.. just between God and you OR more public.
And every single day as you wear the ring, you can be proud to put in on knowing you have put on a new you and know how truly proud God is that you have honored Him and His Word with your pledge to be pure in thought, word and deed.
The ring is much more than a piece of jewelry. It is symbol of your love of God and your commitment to Him to show your love by honoring His desire for you to be close to Him and His Most Holy Spirit.
Watch and see.......you'll be so happy you made this decision. Please write back ...... and say a prayer for me knowing I'll be praying for you too.
Your Sister in Christ Jesus,
Kathy
Dear Friend,
When I first heard the idea of being chaste, I thought, "They have got to be kidding!" Since the age of 15 a lot of my being revolved around sex and around guys in general. I thought that it was the thing to do. When you met a guy you liked and you thought he liked you too, you slept together.
I thought it was love. I was wrong!! It's a superficial kind of love. One that fulfills you for that period of time. And saving myself for someone special never even entered my mind.
I thought that if I didn't sleep with the guy, he wouldn't like me. I had not been taught the fundamentals of Chastity. I was young, naive and searching for an acceptance of some sort. Of any sort. And sex was part of my acceptance into the world of what I called, "a relationship". I guess you could say I didn't have a bit of self-esteem and I abused myself by using my body.
 |
Through the Chastity Workshops, I have learned to love myself as God loves me. I've learned that I am someone special and that I am worth waiting for. So, when I was given the Chastity Ring, I was extremely happy and proud to wear it. Its more than just a beautiful gold decoration on my finger. It is significant of many things, but most of all, it represents Self-Respect. I can say NO to a man who wants to have sex before marriage, and feel good about doing so.
|
If that man accepts and loves me for who I am and what I'm doing, he'll be there and wait for me when we are married. OR if that man tries to make me feel guilty by saying something like, "You've done it before," OR "You already have a kid!" OR "You know I love you, what difference will it make if we make love...now or wait until we are married?" The difference is that I have made a promise to myself and to God and to my future husband ... to love and respect myself.
|
The ring helps me tell the difference between the weeds and the flowers...those who love me for me...and those who are looking for something else. The ring represents the new me. Its a reminder that God loves me and wants me to do the right thing.

 |
Today, I love myself enough to wait. To wait for my husband. For the man who truly loves me.
We are asked to take the ring off, when we don't practice Chastity. The day this ring comes off my finger, is when it is replaced with a wedding band.

My Chastity Ring
 |
My Chastity Ring is a symbol of a special promise. A special promise to myself and to my Creator. A special promise to live a chaste, clean, honest and respectable life. My Chastity Ring stays on my finger and is to be replaced by a wedding band, on the day I say "I Do" and am willing to commit myself in marriage to one man and be honest, loyal and giving to that one man only. My promise to God is that I won't have sex or be sexual in any way until I find the right person and I am ready and willing to live an honest life with one person...my future husband.

A Poem about "My Chastity Ring"
|
It's made of 14 Karat Gold
We receive it whether we are young or old.
Its a new beginning of a new life.
It means I won't have sex till I'm a wife.
My Chastity Ring was a gift for me
from a lady named Kathy DiFiore.
She gives me the confidence to be strong
and that remaining chaste isn't wrong.
My Chastity ring symbolizes that I'm worth waiting for
and if a man thinks not, he can walk out the door
All of these things are what my Chastity Ring means to me,
I will remain chaste until I'm a bride to be.

Dear Friend,
My Chastity Ring means that I took a step at keeping a promise of not doing anything until I am married. And if I take a step at doing something ... I usually keep going in that direction. I'm proud of myself for having it on everyday.
|
It represents self respect, selfless love, and a gentle yet strong reminder of how through motherhood, we become co-creators with God. The ring reminds me of the spiritual responsibility my pure bond with God and what a wonderful gift it is!!!
